Yes, Mobile Regional Airport will remain open and continue to serve its tenants like Airbus Space and Defense and the U.S. Coast Guard Training Facility. However, all commercial air service will relocate to Mobile International Airport.

Yes, the existing 2-gate terminal at Mobile International Airport will remain open and operate as a low-cost terminal. It can also be expanded to 4 gates, giving airlines an option for the type of terminal they would like for their customers.

The new terminal will feature modern amenities, including spacious gate areas, dining options, retail shops, executive lounge, private mother’s room on both landside and airside, and an indoor pet relief area.

The new terminal will be fully ADA compliant, with accessible facilities, services, and accommodations for passengers with disabilities.

Construction

Yes, during construction, there was a detour implemented on Michigan Avenue in early December 2023 to facilitate construction activities.

No, the construction will not interfere with airline operations. Breeze Airways is currently serving Mobile International Airport at the low-cost terminal, flying nonstop to Orlando and offering BreezeThru service to Providence, RI. The remaining carriers, American Airlines, Delta Airlines, and United Airlines, will continue to operate from Mobile Regional Airport until they relocate when the new terminal opens.

Parking

The parking garage will have a capacity of 1,250 spaces.

Yes, there will be surface parking available in addition to the parking garage.

The Mobile Airport Authority would welcome the consideration of any new Amtrak passenger service connecting to the new Mobile Downtown Airport and sees it as an important complement to its plans, expanding options for travelers. There is a proposed location for a station in the recently released Master Plan.
