The Vision

The Mobile International Airport terminal and parking garage project marks a new era in Mobile’s aviation history.

Community members have long sought a more convenient airport, as the challenging location of Mobile Regional Airport has driven about 55% of its passengers to nearby airports.

A comprehensive 20-year Master Plan, initiated in response to a 2018 Feasibility Study, highlighted the need to relocate commercial air passenger services to reclaim lost traffic. When the new terminal becomes operational in 2025, commercial passenger traffic will shift from Mobile Regional Airport in west Mobile to Mobile International Airport, just minutes from Downtown Mobile and Baldwin County.

The new terminal will open with five gates and is designed to expand to 12 as demand grows. Additionally, the parking garage will offer 1,250 spaces, enhancing convenience for travelers. The terminal will meet international standards and is expected to boost Mobile’s competitiveness with other airports, thanks to its proximity to downtown and the port, ease of access for Baldwin County customers, and convenient interstate connections. This transformational project promises lower fares, more direct flights, increased tourism, and enhanced economic development opportunities for the region.
